SAVOR - DAY 8

They Ate Food with Joyful & Sincere Hearts

Acts 2:42; 46-47

Friday arrived with anticipation, a day I eagerly awaited for lunch and prayer time with Mrs. Linda. Our conversations traversed the spectrum of life, unhindered by interruptions.

I was fluent in the language of “church,” yet unable to build genuine connections. My heart craved the spiritual wisdom and guidance of someone who had walked the path before me, but I didn’t understand there wasn’t a set recipe to what this relationship should look like. This created an unmet expectation in my mind of what biblical discipleship could or should look like.

But Mrs. Linda was the embodiment of transparency, authenticity, and trustworthiness. Despite our significant age gap, she extended grace on a weekly basis, pointing me to scripture through her wisdom and discernment.
Her recipe to relationship was simple and included two ingredients- (1) Truly seeing the pain and struggle in the person in front of her and (2) being consistent.  These two gestures spoke volumes in reassuring that she was truly there to walk beside in community and discipleship, transcending mere words.

The reality is that we all crave this multi-generational connection, but it can be difficult to discern opportunities and foster profound friendships among our sisters in Christ.

Here are a few practical ways we take steps:
1.     Initiate Extend a simple invitation. A cup of coffee, a walk, or a moment at the park while the kids play.
2.     Allocate Undivided Attention Eliminate distractions. Make each interaction meaningful.
3.     Maintain Consistency Commitment breeds trust. Without trust, genuine relationships falter.
4.     Embrace Transparency Amid life's trials, women crave authenticity. Knowing we're not alone, supported by love and grace, is invaluable.

Let's unite as women of faith, fostering spiritual growth through mutual encouragement, while praising God and breaking bread together.
