SAVOR - DAY 3
Isaiah 55:1-3 CSB.
“Come, everyone who is thirsty, come to the water; and you without silver, come, buy, and eat! Come, buy wine and milk without silver and without cost! Why do you spend silver on what is not food, and your wages on what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to me, and eat what is good, and you will enjoy the choicest of foods. Pay attention and come to me; listen, so that you will live. I will make a permanent covenant with you on the basis of the faithful kindnesses of David.”
Have you ever made a vain attempt to satisfy your cravings for lasting joy or contentment, only to see this satisfaction leave just as quickly as it came, possibly leaving you thirsty for more? Retail therapy or indulging in rich sugary foods and drinks come to mind! Our human efforts and vain attempts to satisfy our inner thirst and hunger will always fail in the end and the sense of emptiness continues. It is because our deepest craving for satisfying our thirst & hunger is spiritual.
Did you know there are 642 personal invitations in the Bible to “Come” and in every case it is God who gives this gracious invitation?
Christ invites us all to a forever feast with our own personal invitation and just wants us to “Come”. This invitation to “come, buy and eat” indicates that there’s more involved to God’s offer of salvation than hearing. It offers a very generous provision and provides a great expectation. All the wealth in the world couldn’t purchase one item in God’s market, because Jesus bought them all at such a substantial price, and now they are all free to us - without price because it is priceless. The only satisfaction our soul will ever find is by coming to Christ by faith. All other routes are counterfeit.
