SAVOR - DAY 11

Matthew 26-28

“It is what it is and it ain’t     what it ain’t”

Recently, I went to minister in the local jail with our Mission 423 team. We walk into the cell block & the ladies begin to come in, as they do we’re greeting them, smiling, you know, showing ourselves friendly. I turn to a young lady & ask her how she’s doing she says, “I’m blessed,” in the sweetest - kindest voice. I looked at her and responded, “oh really, because your situation tells me differently,” we began to laugh, I proceed to say, “what’s up, what’s really going on?” Then, she says this statement & I will never forget it, as long as, I live & breathe, “it is what it is and it ain’t what it ain’t.”

Life was doing what it has the ability to do, it continues on the path & in the direction it is set. We, as people, have to make a decision about who we are, who we are going to be and how we are going to go about doing life. When you’ve been given proper ingredients, correct instructions on how to mix the wet ingredients and fold them into the dry ones, you can carry life out well or as we like to say you can “do” life well. When you have not been given the correct recipe your dish just will not turn out right. It doesn’t matter what you do, it won’t rise right, smell right, it may not taste good, you’ll find yourself needing to start from scratch - a total “do over.”

In the days leading to the finality of Jesus’ time on earth, we see him in great pursuit, with the sole intention of preparing those around him for what is to come, in love. Even Judas. We call it Holy Week,  the spirit within him began to prepare him. I do say to myself, wonder how “holy” this really felt to Jesus. Here he is born to die for a people who had not chosen him yet, here amongst people who cried out “HOSANNA! Come save us now! Here I am Lord, Me, come for me!”  Literally, screaming one day, taking their outer garments off for him to ride in on, waving palm leaves one day and willing to crucify him just a few days later.

The fellowship that flowed out of him knowing what was about to happen. I mean, could you sit down with your whole group of friends knowing that one of them was going to betray you? You know my favorite part though, that He loved them in spite of themselves. The apostles really didn’t have a clue. They were at the table with Jesus, he’s telling them, “yall it’s about to go down.” He gives them a play by play and they are looking around at each other as if to say, “who Lord, me, no I’d never, no one here, at this table.” Did he lie? Not one time.

I love this part of His story because it reminds me of the very personality of Him. His unending love for them. The catch, He knew the entire time how the story was going to end.

He was born to die, for those people, for the world, you know, us, yeah, you honey, the perfect you!!! I know sometimes you’ve got the right idea, you did this one thing right, you trust in the Lord. But don’t stop there! Keep pressing, love your neighbor, be kind, do something different.

Hey girl, get out of your comfort zone today. Be intentional about getting to know someone who doesn’t look like you, doesn’t come from where you come from, don’t have all the pieces to the puzzle, she might even deny you before her other group of friends, PURSUE HER! But don’t you dare just pursue, you be willing to go all of the way.
COMMUNE WITH THEM!! Get you off your mind and love like JESUS!!

We were created with strength, courage and WISDOM on the inside of us by THE CREATOR HIMSELF!!
What can stop us/you?
