SAVOR - DAY 14

Galatians 5:22-23

When we lived in FL years ago and were looking to buy a house, the agent told us that the one we liked had fruit trees in the yard. This excited me because I always thought that was so cool and wanted to be able to go out in the yard and pick fruit to eat. When I asked the agent what kind of fruit trees they were, he replied that he wasn’t sure. Apparently, many of the fruit trees in FL look very similar and he told me that I would be able to tell once they started producing fruit (no duh).

But it made sense. Sometimes you can’t tell the trees apart until they start flowering and producing fruit then it becomes obvious whether it is a grapefruit, orange, lemon or any other kind of tree. The fact is, an orange tree only produces oranges and you can tell the tree by its fruit.

Paul wrote in Galatians about the fruit of the Spirit. He’s talking about the Holy Spirit and giving us examples of what the fruit of a life filled with the Spirit will look like. When you wonder what a person is really like, look at the fruit. A Christian produces the fruit of the Spirit, while a non believer produces the fruit of the world. Our goal should always be that people can immediately tell what kind of person we are because our fruit is so evident.

What kind of fruit is your life producing right now?
What do you need to do differently so that your life produces fruit that identifies you as a Christ follower?

Fruit Salsa

One of our family favorite recipes with fruit is fruit salsa. Its light, cool and summery.

Fruit Salsa

Cut up the following into a bowl:
Strawberries (1 quart)
Red apple 1
Green apple 1
Kiwi-several

If you have a toss n chop (iykyk) then you can put all the fruit in the bowl in chunks and use the toss n chop to finish it off. If you’re using a knife then chop it as small as possible.

Serve with cinnamon pita
